LAHORE—The Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) which is a member of International Federation of Journalists has appealed to the Afghan government of Taliban to protect the life of Mehmood Saremi, correspondent of Iranian News Agency (IRNA) and ensure his safe passage to Pakistan or Iran.

In a communication to Afghan government the Association President Iqbal Yousufi said that Afghans should fulfill their responsibility to provide safety to the life and property of foreign nationals in Afghanistan. He said that PFJA will make arrangements for the travel of Mahmoud Saremi to Pakistan or Iran if he was brought to Kabul.

The PFJA in a separate statement has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s remarks against members of the Press were the result of his ignorance about the role of Press.
