Lahore: Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) President Iqbal Yousufi has condemned the establishment of the Press and Publications Authority (PAPRA). He said institutions like NEPRA and OGRA were also made for the betterment of the people, but they had miserably failed to deliver, and the same would happen with PAPRA as well.
He said in developed countries, the rules and regulations of Print Media were made by the Press Council, which met international standards acceptable to all. Yousufi stated that the Information Minister had prepared the draft for the Press Council, in which the PFJA also presented some proposals, but for some reasons, it could not be implemented.
He added that efforts will be continued to oppose the establishment of PAPRA, and the PFJA will fully support the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) in this regard.
